MAY NEWSLETTER
During the month of May, Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd
will be taking End of Year Diagnostic Tests. Kindergarten testing took
place April 28 – May 2. First Grade and Second Grade will be testing
the week of May 5 – 9. These tests will yield results that will
help us make decisions about the instructional needs for students next
year.
As the end of the year approaches, parents have asked about how students are
placed into homerooms for the upcoming school year. Students are divided and
placed into classes based on, but not limited to, gender, ability, special needs,
and teacher recommendation. The goal is to create a class of students that will
allow the teachers to meet the individual needs and ensure that the students
achieve the educational goals of Morgan and the Ross Local School District. Because
this procedure takes an enormous amount of time and is based on many various
factors, it is not our policy to take parent requests for placement.
Parents will be informed of student placement for the 2008-2009 school year in
August. Student placements will be mailed and class lists will be posted a week
before school begins. Since class supplies are not teacher specific, but are
grade level specific, you will still be able to purchase the necessary school
supplies for your child at any time during the summer.
Morgan Elementary will be experiencing staffing changes for the 2008-2009 school
year. Due to a slight decrease in enrollment, Morgan staffing will be reduced
by three positions. To accommodate the staffing cuts the following teachers will
be assigned a teaching position at Ross Middle School: Mrs. Gerri Bolin will
be teaching 5th grade at RMS. Mr. Jesse Kohls will be teaching 7th/8th grade
social studies at RMS. Mrs. Patty French will be teaching 5th & 8th grade
health at RMS. We would like to thank each of them for their service and dedication
to the students at Morgan, and wish them the best at RMS.
The following staff members will be reassigned to the following positions at
Morgan next school year: Ms. Stacey McDonald will be teaching 2nd grade. Mrs.
Tara Smith will be teaching 3rd grade. Mrs. Kara Haubner will be teaching 4th
grade.
