and personality so that you will be better able to make a wise career
choice.
To further help make a wise career decision, you will be identifying,
researching and shadowing careers that you believe you would enjoy.
You will learn to use resources such as the Occupational Outlook
Handbook and the Ohio Career System to help in this process. Through

exploration, you will become aware of the importance of tentative
career decisions and developing a plan to reach your goal. The course

also involve discussing job leads, filling out application forms,

Introduction to Business is concerned with
providing students with realistic information about and experience
with the major areas of specialization within the world of business.
For students interested in pursuing careers in business, this course
will provide an overview of options they can pursue in vocational education
programs, in work activities directly after high school, Tech Prep
and associate degree programs, and/or college level training.
Some of the topics include the following: entrepreneurship, franchising,
business decision making, business organization, marketing and
sales, quality control, staff supervision procedures, communications,
motivation
of employees, budgeting and cost control, and social and ethical
problems relating to business.

Personal Finance focuses on the student's role as a citizen, student,
family member, consumer and active participant in the business world
Students will discover new ways to maximize their earning potential,
develop strategies for managing their resources, explore skills for
the wise use of credit, and gain insight into the different ways
of investing money. In addition to the textbook, the students will
complete a simulation. Students will open a checking account, apply
for a job, find an apartment, create a budget, write checks, buy
a car and pay taxes. As they compare insurance policies and premiums,
they will learn about preparing for the unexpected. The importance
of budgeting and saving for the future will be explored in depth.
This will be a practical learning experience that every student will
benefit from.

The Accounting II course
builds on the principles learned in the introductory course. Topics
in Accounting II include journalizing purchases and cash payments,
journalizing sales and cash receipts, posting to general and subsidiary
ledgers, preparing payroll records, journalizing payroll transactions,
completing a worksheet for a merchandising business, preparing
an income statement, and recording, adjusting and closing entries
for a partnership.

Video Production will cover
shooting video, pre-production plaguing, types of shots, lighting
and coverage as well as editing using iMovie Final Cut Pro and
iDVD. Students will learn a variety of ways to deliver video content
via
the web,
DVD and television as well as for personal video devices such as
the iPod. Students will be required to assist with the recording
and production of school activities for broadcast as well as the
production of a morning announcements television program. Access
to a Personal Digital Video camcorder is highly recommended. but
not required.
