program designed for students in Grades 7-10 who are eligible based
on academic and/or economic need. Students must meet the criteria
set by the Butler Technology and Career Development Schools for eligibility.
All students are expected to participate in a community based student
organization. This student club provides opportunities-for local
and state competitions as well as venues for service learning and
community service. |

Students enrolled in Connections I will also take their Physical
Science requirement within the program. The course covers many physical
science topics, some earth science, and a brief study of ecology.
Topics covered are: the nature of science, matter, atomic structure,
compounds and molecules, chemical reactions, solutions and mixtures,
motion, force, work and energy, heat and temperature, waves, light,
electricity, magnetism, the universe, Earth's atmosphere and organisms
in the environment. This course will be taught 45 minutes a day for
the entire school year.

This course is a general survey of World History. Topics of study
will include the beginnings of man, advances in culture, early civilizations,
history and formation of major religions and examining the development
of Western European nations. Students will also study Democratic
Revolutions, the Industrial Revolution and World Wars I and II for
45 minutes each day, all year.
