These templates can be utilized to introduce the student to a research model that can be used throughout his/her education and career.  MLA Style is a specific method of writing and citing for the humanities.  At Ross, this style will be used in grades K-10 across the curriculum and in grades 11-12 English.

 

Seventh – Twelfth Grade Research Guide – MLA Style

á      After selecting and reading about a topic, the student will determine three essential questions to be answered through research. 

á      Using a variety of print and non-print resources, the student will complete bibliography and note cards for each resource. 

á      The student may wish to use 3X5 ruled index cards for bibliography cards and 5X8 ruled index cards for note cards.

á      The teacher should provide direct instruction to the student on avoiding plagiarism.  Teach students to paraphrase and use direct or partial quotes appropriately.
