¯ Open PowerPoint -- Click on the PowerPoint icon on the dock. PC - Go to Start -- Programs -- PowerPoint
¯ Choose blank presentation -- Click Open
¯ Choose a slide layout -- Go to Format -> Slide Layout. Click on the desired layout or choose a blank slide to title your presentation. Once chosen, slides can be manipulated any way you choose. Boxes can be resized or eliminated. Plain text must be in a text box. Pictures and WordArt can be free standing.
¯ Inserting a text box -- Go to Insert -> Text Box or click the Text Box button on the drawing tool bar or double click on your slide.
¯ WordArt - Click the blue tilted A on the Drawing tool bar. WordArt does not need to be in a text box. You can change the size, font or color of WordArt. To use the WordArt tool bar, go to View -- Toolbars -- Wordart
¯ Enter text in slide 1 -- Click inside a box to type text. Choose any font or font size or change them later.
¯ Add a background color -- Click on Format -> Slide Background -> Click on the white bar - Choose a color or fill effects. To insert a picture for a background, you must first save the picture into your folder.

¯ Insert an image
¯ From the Internet -Locate the picture -> Put the cursor on the picture, CTRL click or right click the picture until the menu pops up -> Select Copy Image ->Go to your slide in PowerPoint and Edit->Paste. You can also drag the picture from the web page to the slide. PC - Right click the picture
¯ Insert a saved image -- Click on Insert -> Picture -> From File. Locate your picture and click Open.
¯ Insert a sound from the internet - Locate a sound on the internet. Click on the blue link to listen to the sound file. To save the file -> CTRL click or right click the blue link and save it into your folder. On a PC, right click the link and use the "save target" command.
¯ Add sound to slide - > Slide Show-> Slide Transition ->Sound -> Other sound. Locate the sound file in your folder.
¯ Add sound to an object -> Slide Show -> Custom Animation -> Custom
¯ Animate your slides ->Slide Show -> Custom Animation ->Select a component from your slide in the box on the left. Select an animation from the list, then OK. ALL ANIMATIONS MUST BE AUTOMATIC. To accomplish this go to where it says On Click and change it to With Previous or After Previous.
¯ Insert an animated gif Ð Use Internet Explorer to locate a gif animation file. You cannot copy/paste animations they must be inserted as a movie. Put the cursor on the animation and right click the mouse. When you get the pop-up window, save the image into your folder. To add it to a slide Ð Go to-> Insert->Movies and Sounds-> Movie from file. Go to -> Custom Animation and animate automatically. You can loop the animation for continuous motion. Go to -> View ->Toolbars -> Movie to get the movie toolbar.
¯ Insert a song to play through your presentation - Locate the song of your choice. It must be a WAV or MIDI file. Save it into your folder: Put the cursor on the linkÉ.right click and hold the mouseÉ..select Ð Download link to diskÉ Select your folderÉ..click save.
¯ Insert onto Slideshow: It must be inserted as a movieÉ.click on-> Insert -> Movies and Sounds -> Movie from fileÉ. Select your downloaded fileÉclick on Convert and Save.
¯ Animate your song: Click on -> Slide Show -> Animation -> Custom É.click the Timing tabÉ..select MediaÉ.click on AnimateÉ..Automatically. Look on the list in the upper part of the windowÉMedia should be at the top of the list, if it is not click the green arrow to move it upÉ..Click on the Options tabÉ..click Continue slide showÉ.Select the number of slides the song should play forÉ..Click OK.

4. You will be creating an anchor since it is within the same file - Click Locate
5. Click the small triangle next to Slide
6. Select the slide for the link
7. Click OK
8. Your link will work on Slide Show View
