Steps for Creating a Podcast
o
Open GarageBand, go to
File - New and select New Podcast Episode.
o
You'll see several
different tracks for recording - Male voice, female voice, jingles and radio
o
For this project, you
will use either the male or female voice and the jingles track
o
Select the track that
you will use by clicking on it
o
In the middle of the
window you will see the record button.
It's round with a red center.
Click the button to begin recording and click it again to stop the
recording.
o
The playhead at the top
will move. To stop the playhead,
click the play button. It's the
triangle in the center of the controls panel. You can then slide the playhead to the correct spot for your
next recording.
o
If you want to listen to
your recording slide the playhead to the beginning of your clip and click the
play button.
o
If you want to delete a
clip, select it and hit your delete button.
o
You can record your
entire podcast all at once or record short clips and connect them on the
timeline. You can always move audio
clips along the timeline simply by dragging them.
o
My suggestion is to use
short clips. That will make it
easier to redo a clip if you make a mistake. You can spit a clip and delete part of it, if that becomes
necessary. Just select the clip
and move the playhead to the exact place where you want the clip to split and
go to Edit - Split.
o
To add background music
use the media browser to the right of the main window, you can insert
background music by selecting a song and dragging it onto the jingle track.
o
Adjust the volume in the
jingles control panel to a level that doesnŐt interfere with your voice
recording.
o
When you get to this
point of your project see Ms. Ludwig to learn some advanced features for your
podcast.
o
Now you're ready to send
your podcast to iTunes
o
Go to Share - Send
Podcast to iTunes
o
iTunes will
automatically open and your podcast will appear in the Library.
o
Click the play button to
hear your very first podcast.
