Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to share with you the state of our schools.  We believe it is very important to be very transparent and clear in our communication.  Our schools are a safe place.  While we have experienced an uptick in COVID cases, we are still not seeing a significant amount of spread between students and staff.  In this pandemic, however, that is only one piece of the puzzle.  We are also impacted by the situations happening around us.  Staff and students are being quarantined for exposures both inside and outside of the school setting which ultimately impacts our ability to successfully operate schools.  At this time, we are experiencing significant staffing shortages across multiple departments within the District including transportation, food service and within our teaching and support staff.

As a result of the impact that COVID is currently having on our staffing capacity, all schools will participate in remote learning on Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th. This will allow us to continue instruction leading into break regardless of our present staffing levels. At this time, remote learning will only occur on these two days. As a reminder, there is no school on Wednesday, November 25th - Friday, November 27th for Thanksgiving Break. On Monday, November 30th, school will resume for K-8 students and Ross High School will continue with the hybrid schedule previously communicated to families. District leadership will continue to monitor the situation and make the best decisions for our students and community moving forward.

Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th, all students in grades K-12 will be remote learning from home. Although students will not be in their home buildings, these two days are still instructional days. Students will have interactions with their teachers and will complete instructional tasks. From the beginning of the school year, staff have been utilizing Google Classroom (kindergarten - 4th grade) or Schoology (5th - high school) to share instruction and assignments; students will use these platforms on Monday (11/23) and Tuesday (11/24). For students in K-4 who do not have access to an electronic device at home, a Chromebook will be available. Thank you for your continued support of the Ross Local School District.

Sincerely,
