The RLSD Board of Education formally acknowledged the resignation of Superintendent, Dr. Chad Konkle, effective June 30, 2024, at its regularly scheduled meeting on April 18, 2024. Dr. Konkle has served as Superintendent since 2020, and his leadership and dedication to our district have been instrumental during his tenure. We sincerely thank Dr. Konkle for his service and wish him the best in his new position at Little Miami Local School District.
We understand the significance of this transition and want to assure the community that the Board of Education is actively in the process of filling the Superintendent position. To conduct the search, the Board has contracted the Butler County Educational Service Center, ensuring a thorough and professional approach.
The Butler County Educational Service Center team has already begun the search for our next superintendent. They've consulted with our administrative team, representatives from the teaching staff, and support staff to gain insight and start identifying potential candidates. Interviewing candidates is now underway.
The successful candidate must possess the following leadership qualities and management qualifications:
- Strongly committed to a “student first” philosophy in all decisions.
- Visible, innovative lead educator who champions an all-around education, (vocations, social-emotional, wellness, the arts, athletics) and supports ALL students to reach their potential.
- Articulate and straightforward communicator with strong interpersonal skills who demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with board members, staff, students, parents, community leaders, and state officials.
- Possesses excellent people skills, presents a positive image of the District, and will take input and make a decision when necessary.
- A leader who will keep the Board fully informed and current with matters about the schools, one who works based on mutual trust and mutual respect.
- Willingness to become an active and contributing member of the school community.

It is the goal of the Board to have a new superintendent hired by the end of the school year in order to have a collaborative transition period with the current Superintendent, Dr. Chad Konkle before beginning officially on July 1.
