Dear Ross Athletics Families,
Another week, more changes. Please review below for updates from the state and other information specific to the start of the fall season for Ross Athletics.
Please see below for a variety of updates that are especially important for any family who has a student participating or trying out for a school-sponsored fall sport (grades 7-12):
***Mask Mandate/Travel Advisory
Based on Governor DeWine’s directive from last week (CLICK HERE TO READ ORDER), please understand a couple of things for this week and sports moving forward:
Masks are now MANDATORY per state directive EXCEPT in the following situations:
If you have traveled/travel to the following states, you are advised to quarantine for 14 days upon your return: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, South Carolina, Texas.
While these guidelines may seem unfair to you personally, we also know we have a collective responsibility right now in order to have a fall season.
You can find our Restart Guidelines in their entirety here: Ross Athletics: Restart Guidelines
***OHSAA Sport-Specific Recommendations
OHSAA issued guidance for districts as we look toward starting our fall season next week. Administration is sifting through this information and will communicate our protocol to coaches first, then to our families in each sport.
As you can imagine, there are pages and pages of documents to work through, so we thank you for your patience as we do our best to keep everybody safe and to have a chance to play.
***OHSAA Preseason Parent/Player Meetings
Due to restrictions on large gatherings, we are planning to share the Preseason Parent/Player Meeting presentation digitally this year. Please stay tuned for more details.
Because we will not be meeting in person, we will also make appropriate accommodations to collect participation fees and Ross Athletic Boosters memberships.
***20-21 Ross Athletic Boosters Membership
We’re excited to announce that we’re now able to collect Ross Athletic Boosters memberships DIGITALLY! Please check out the membership information and Ross Athletic Boosters Q&A below:
*** Pre-Participation Physicals
All student athletes must have a valid physical on file beginning August 1 to participate in practice, tryouts or any team activity. Please schedule a physical with your primary care physician or plan to get one at the Little Clinic or a walk-in medical facility (e.g. Urgent Care).
You must have the first pages of the OHSAA form completed before you go to the doctor, and pages 4-5 must be signed and dated by a doctor to be valid. Once completed, please turn in at RMS or RHS office or give to sport coach.
Please view the Ross Athletics Preseason Guide to find a link to the 2020-2021 Pre-participation Physical Form.
And finally, buckle your seatbelts, because we anticipate some more specific guidance regarding the start of the fall season this week. As always, we will try to clearly communicate what we know, as we know it.
