The Ross Local School District's 1:1 Personalized Learning Initiative began January 20th with Chromebooks being handed out to high school students. The rollout will continue at the high school this week and will begin at the middle school on Tuesday, 1/27. This initiative was made possible through a Straight A Fund Grant from the Ohio Department of Education in the amount of $949,987. The grant dollars will provide every student in grades 5-12 a Chromebook laptop computer. Learning will be transformed through student utilization of digital resources to provide a more personalized online learning experience. In addition, formative assessments will be used by teachers to select resources and activities based on students’ identified needs. Reductions in spending for textbooks, paper, copier and printer maintenance, along with the need to no longer maintain general use computer labs will provide funds to purchase new devices every four years.
