Mr. Gregory Young, Superintendent of the Ross Local School District, was recently honored by the Buckeye Association of School Administrators at its Fall Conference in Columbus, Ohio. He was named the 2012 Exemplary Educator for Region Six which includes nine counties in southwest Ohio. The award is given annually to a superintendent in each region of Ohio to recognize outstanding educational leadership which has resulted in the enhancement and improvement of educational opportunities for elementary and secondary students. In naming Mr. Young for this award, BASA cited his “high expectations for building leaders and teachers and a no-nonsense approach to providing every student a high quality education”. The Ross School District has consistently maintained the Ohio Department of Education’s highest rating of Excellent with Distinction under his leadership. Mr. Young has also led the district through a multi-year, multi-building facilities improvement plan. Currently serving his fourth year as superintendent of the 2,900 student district, Mr. Young was also the district’s assistant superintendent for seven years and a high school administrator in the district for thirteen years.
