The Ross Local School District Health Services team is dedicated to supporting the daily health needs of our students and providing compassionate, knowledgeable care for those with chronic health conditions. Our school nurses serve as partners to parents and local healthcare providers, ensuring a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for every child. We advocate for students' overall well-being by addressing physical health while also being mindful of their mental, emotional, and social needs.

We welcome you and your family to Ross Local Schools and are here to support your child’s successful transition into the school environment. If your child has specific health needs or concerns, we encourage you to contact your school’s nurse so we can work together to minimize any disruptions to care and ensure your child is ready to learn each day.

  • Students in Ohio must be immunized against ten specific communicable diseases, according to Ohio Revised Code 3313.671. If your child needs to obtain immunizations, you can contact your healthcare provider.

The Butler County Health Department also provides immunizations by appointment only. The link to their website is below.

Additionally, many local clinics located inside of stores and pharmacies, like The Little Clinic inside Kroger stores and The Minute Clinic at CVS, can provide immunizations for students.

Please see the document linked below for the information on required immunizations for school attendance.

  • Medications dispensed by our school nurses at Ross Local Schools require a physician’s order.  Please access the medication order form below and turn it into your building’s School Nurse.

Medication Permit for Administration at School form

All medication must be brought to school by an adult, and must be in the original container. Students may not carry medication at school. The only exception to this is if they have an order from their healthcare provider to self-carry an epinephrine autoinjector or a rescue inhaler. These specific forms permitting a student to self-carry these medications are available below.

  • To help our school nurses care for students safely and effectively, certain health forms are required to be on file upon enrollment. The forms linked below provide important information about your child’s health needs and allow our nursing staff to respond appropriately during the school day. We ask families to complete and submit these forms at their earliest convenience so we can ensure the best possible care for every student.

  • At Ross Local Schools, we believe that a healthy student is a ready-to-learn student. Our goal is to partner with families to promote habits at home that support student wellness and help maintain a healthy learning environment at school. One of the most important ways families can support this is by keeping students home when they are ill. Please keep your child home if they have a fever of 100°F or higher, are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea, have a persistent cough or sore throat, or exhibit signs of a contagious condition such as pink eye or an undiagnosed rash. Students should remain home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication.

We know that navigating illness and health-related decisions can be challenging, and our Health Services staff is here to help. We encourage families to stay in communication with their school nurse, practice healthy habits at home, and reach out with any questions. Together, we can foster a safe and supportive environment where all students can thrive and focus on what matters most—their education.
