Strategic Planning
Strategic Planning at RLSD
Believe. Belong. Become.
Our strategic planning process is an opportunity to come together as a community and imagine the best future for Ross Local Schools and every student we serve. It is about honoring the traditions, relationships, and community that make Ross special while being willing to explore what is possible for the future of education. By listening to one another, sharing ideas, and building on what we already do well, we can shape a vision for Ross that prepares every student to thrive — in school, in life, and in the world beyond. Together, we will preserve what matters while exploring what’s possible. Belong. Believe. Become. This is Ross.
Strategic Planning at RLSD
Believe. Belong. Become. This is Ross.
At Ross Local Schools, we're proud of the traditions, relationships, and strong sense of community that make the Ross Experience special. As we look toward the future, we're bringing our students, families, staff, alumni, business partners, and community members together to imagine what's possible for the next generation of Ross Rams.
Our strategic planning process is an opportunity to build on what we do well, listen to the voices of our community, and create a shared vision for the future of education in Ross.
Together, we will preserve what matters while exploring what’s possible.
Be Part of the Conversation
The future of Ross Local Schools belongs to our entire community, and every perspective matters.
Throughout this process, we are creating opportunities for students, staff, families, and community members to share their experiences, priorities, and hopes for the future. Your input will help inform the development of our strategic plan and Portrait of a Learner.

Our schools have a proud history of academic excellence, meaningful relationships, and traditions that bring generations of Ross families together.
As education, technology, and the world around us continue to evolve, we have an opportunity to consider how the Ross Experience can continue preparing students for success in school and beyond.
This work is about more than developing a strategic plan. It's about identifying what we value most, what we want every student to experience, and how we can create opportunities that help students discover their strengths, pursue their interests, and confidently prepare for the future.

Spring 2026 | Listening to Students
Our strategic planning work began by listening to students and learning more about their experiences, aspirations, and ideas for the future of education at Ross.
Summer 2026 | Board and Leadership Retreats
Board members and district administrators participated in conversations about the district's strengths, emerging opportunities, and the future of learning.
Fall 2026 | Community and Staff Engagement
Four Community Conversations welcomed more than 30 community members, including parents, grandparents, alumni, faith leaders, and other residents.
Staff listening sessions and community survey feedback provide additional perspectives to inform the work.
Fall 2026 | Business Partner Breakfast
Approximately 20 business partners from Ross and surrounding communities joined district leaders and students to build relationships and discuss future opportunities for collaboration.
Next Phase | Identifying Themes and Developing Our Portrait of a Learner
District leadership will bring together the insights gathered throughout the process to identify common themes, understand stakeholder priorities, and begin defining the attributes and experiences we want for every Ross student.
A representative Guiding Coalition will help advance this work.

Our strategic planning process began with listening. From students and staff to families, community members, and business partners, we're gathering perspectives to better understand what makes Ross special today and what our students need to thrive in the future.
Through these conversations, we're learning more about the traditions, relationships, and experiences our community values, while exploring new opportunities to make learning meaningful, relevant, and connected to students' futures.

One of the most important outcomes of this process will be the development of a Portrait of a Learner for Ross Local Schools.
This Portrait will help us answer a meaningful question:
What do we want every Ross student to know, be able to do, and become as a result of their Ross Experience?
Academic achievement will remain important, but we'll also explore the skills, character, relationships, and experiences that prepare students to thrive beyond graduation.
The Portrait of a Learner will help guide the development of our strategic plan and create a shared understanding of what success looks like for Ross students.
-
The next phase of our strategic planning process will include a Guiding Coalition, bringing together a small but representative group of community stakeholders to work alongside district leadership.
This group will consider the feedback gathered throughout the process, help shape the Portrait of a Learner, and contribute to the development of our strategic plan.
We look forward to sharing more as this work progresses.
